Cookie Policy
Last updated: 17 September 2026
This policy explains how Timing Ireland uses cookies and similar technologies on our online shop at shop.timingireland.ie, what each one does, how long it lasts, and how you can control them.
It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal data more generally.
Who we are. This shop is operated by Race Management Limited, trading as Timing Ireland, a company registered in Ireland with address, Unit 13 Kinsealy Business Park, Malahide, Co. Dublin, K36 H277, Ireland. You can reach us at info@timingireland.ie or +353 1 846 2409.
Scope. This policy covers shop.timingireland.ie only. Our main company website at timingireland.ie is a separate site with its own arrangements.
1. What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store on your device. When you come back, the browser sends it again, so the site can recognise your session — remembering what's in your basket, keeping you signed in, or counting you as one visitor rather than five.
We also use closely related technologies that work the same way in practice: pixels (a tiny invisible image or script that reports a page view or an action back to a third party), and local storage (a larger, longer-lived store built into your browser). Where this policy says "cookies", it means all of these.
Cookies set by shop.timingireland.ie are called first-party. Cookies set by another company's script running on our pages — Google or Meta, for example — are called third-party.
2. Your choices
Strictly necessary cookies are set automatically. The shop cannot work without them, and neither Irish nor EU law requires us to ask permission for them. They don't track you across other websites.
Everything else — analytics, marketing and preference cookies — is only set if you agree. When you first visit, you'll be asked to accept or reject them. Rejecting is as easy as accepting, and choosing "reject" does not restrict your access to any part of the shop.
You can change your mind at any time:
- Use the cookie preferences control on our site to update your choice.
- Clear the cookies in your browser, which resets you to no consent and brings the banner back.
- Use your browser's own settings to block cookies regardless of what you told us (section 7).
We will ask you again periodically — and whenever we add a materially different use of cookies — so that a decision you made long ago doesn't stand indefinitely.
3. Strictly necessary cookies
These keep the shop functioning: they hold your basket, secure your checkout, remember your country and currency, and let us detect whether your browser accepts cookies at all. They are set by Shopify, the platform our shop runs on.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
_shopify_essential |
Core store functionality, including session and checkout information | 1 year |
cart |
Holds the contents of your basket | 2 weeks |
cart_currency |
Starts your next basket in the same currency after a completed checkout | 2 weeks |
localization |
Sets the basket to the correct country | 1 year |
discount_code |

_shopify_test |

storefront_digest |
Lets us preview the shop while it is password-protected | 1 year |
Shop Pay. If you use Shop Pay, or sign in with Shop, Shopify sets shopify_pay (1 year) to keep you signed in at checkout, along with __Host-shop_binding (3 hours) and login_with_shop_finalize (5 minutes) during the sign-in handoff.
Payment. Card payments are handled at checkout by Revolut and by Shopify's own payment processing. These providers may set cookies of their own at the point of payment to detect fraud and complete the transaction. We never see or store your full card details.
_tracking_consent deserves a note: it is the cookie that remembers you said no. Deleting it doesn't remove tracking — it removes the record of your refusal, and you'll be asked again.
4. Analytics cookies
These tell us how the shop is used — which pages are visited, what people search for, which products get looked at but not bought, and whether a visitor arrived from Google, a newsletter or somewhere else. We use this to fix what isn't working. Only set if you consent.
| Cookie | Set by | Purpose | Duration |

Where HubSpot appears. Several pages on this shop — including our contact page — carry an enquiry form supplied by HubSpot. Loading one of those pages loads HubSpot's script, which is what sets the cookies above. They connect an enquiry you send us to the pages you looked at beforehand, so we can answer you in context.
5. Marketing cookies
These let us measure whether our advertising works, and let Google and Meta show our products to people who have shown an interest. They are the cookies that can follow you to other websites. Only set if you consent.
| Cookie | Set by | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
_shopify_marketing |
Shopify | Marketing attribution for the storefront and checkout | 1 year |
_gcl_au |
Google Ads — links an ad click to a later purchase | 90 days | |
_fbp |
Meta | Meta pixel — identifies a browser for ad measurement and audiences | 90 days |
_fbc |
Meta | Records the Facebook or Instagram ad you clicked, if any | 90 days |
Google and Meta may also read or set cookies on their own domains (google.com, doubleclick.net, facebook.com) when their scripts run on our pages. Those cookies are governed by their own policies, linked in section 8.
This is also where data leaves our control. When you consent to marketing cookies, Google and Meta receive information about your visit and use it under their own terms, including for their own purposes. If that matters to you, decline marketing cookies — everything on the shop still works.
6. Preference cookies
If we add features that remember how you like the shop set up — a chosen language, a dismissed notice, a recently-viewed list — those settings are stored either in a preference cookie or in your browser's local storage. They are convenience only, they are not shared with anyone, and they are only set if you consent.
Embedded content. Our contact page shows a Google Map of our premises, embedded directly from Google. Loading that map contacts Google's servers and Google may set cookies on its own domains as a result. We don't control those cookies; they are covered by Google's privacy policy, linked in section 8.
7. Controlling cookies in your browser
Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies, and you can do this whether or not you have given us consent. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will stop the basket and checkout from working.
- Chrome — Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies
- Safari — Settings → Privacy (iOS) or Safari → Settings → Privacy (Mac)
- Firefox — Settings → Privacy & Security
- Edge — Settings → Cookies and site permissions
You can also opt out at source:
- Google Analytics — the browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout
- Google ads — myadcenter.google.com
- Meta ads — Settings → Ads → Ad preferences in your Facebook or Instagram account
- Industry opt-out — youronlinechoices.eu
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control. Browsers can send a signal asking sites not to track you. There is no agreed standard for Do Not Track and we do not currently respond to it. Where your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, Shopify treats it as a request to opt out of tracking and we honour it.
8. Third parties named in this policy
| Company | Role | Their policy |
|---|---|---|
| Shopify International Ltd | The e-commerce platform the shop runs on | shopify.com/legal/privacy |
| Google Ireland Ltd | Analytics and advertising | policies.google.com/privacy |

| Revolut | Payment processing at checkout | revolut.com/legal/privacy |

We also use apps for quotations, email, accounting and shipping. Those handle personal data but do not place cookies on your browser from our shop; they are described in our Privacy Policy.
9. Changes to this policy
We'll update this page when what we use changes. The date at the top always shows the current version. If we introduce a materially different use of cookies, we'll ask for your consent again rather than relying on a choice you made under an older version.
